  4.     Some members of the Bensonhurst community were heard
  5. proclaiming their 100% Italian origins to the African-American
  6. demonstrators who marched through their neighborhood mourning Yusuf
  7. Hawkins' murder (NATION, Sept. 11). It made me think of the black
  8. American G.I.s who fought in Italy during World War II, trying to
  9. rid that ancient land of its homegrown Fascist regime and its Nazi
  10. allies. Funny how one generation's savior is another's "animal,
  11. crackhead, nigger," to name a few of the epithets hurled at the
  12. peaceful marchers.

  18. man dares not tread." You neglected to add, "There are streets in
  19. black America where a white man dares not tread."
